Another Mr and Mrs post filling you in on all the little bits and pieces that made our wedding day perfect!
We were very lucky whilst wedding planning that we have such talented, helpful and generous friends! We made our save the dates, invitations and orders of service. We did our own sweet jars for tables, we made the name cards and we had kids activity packs. Some of our friends helped with these and some made a stunning cake, flower arrangements and others took gorgeous photos and made us a wedding album. We wouldn’t have had the day we wanted without their help and generosity!
The Dresses and Shoes
I didn’t go to many dress shops when I was looking for dresses with my bridesmaids or for my dress. In fact we only went to one, a cute little shop in Hinckley, Leicestershire, called Liney’s Brides. It is a family run shop with some of the most stunning dresses in that I’ve ever seen.
We had two separate appointments for our initial dress searches and then a couple after them for measuring, fittings and alterations. The girls at Liney’s Brides are so lovely and really helpful with finding what we wanted.
My Bridesmaids wore Mori Lee Eggplant Purple asymmetric chiffon dresses (product code 20452) with ruched detail and an asymmetric back strap. The ruched detailing matched my dress perfectly. It was so difficult to find one dress that suited all three bridesmaids. They are all different shapes and suit different styles, so it was a miracle that we managed to find the right dress for them all!The girls wore black Mary Jane shoes from Matalan which were perfect for wearing all day as the heel was small and they had a strap across the front.
My shoes were from BHS that was, they are Ivory lace patterned with a silk strap going across the front, they had a cushioned sole inside which made it bearable to wear them all day. Ladies who wear heels all day, I salute you!My Flower girl, Faye, were a lemon yellow pleated dress from Debenhams. Her Great Grandma, Dan’s great Aunty, sewed in a petticoat to give it that extra lift that every little girls dress should have so it floats when they spin around! All you girls know what I mean…
Table Decorations
We got bits and pieces for our tables from all over the place! We tried to make things where we could and then bought other little things. The name cards came from Hobby Craft and we bought a Camper Van stamp that I stamped on every name card before handwriting the names on.
I didn’t think that my handwriting would be good enough for them and we’d need someone with fancy handwriting but I don’t think they look too bad!
The Kids Bride and Groom Spoon activity packs were from Wilkos and we printed off colouring sheets for them to do also. My amazing Maid of Honour, Katy, made out paper flowers for the table alongside her commissioning somebody to make our bouquets, I definitely think she could’ve made them just as well!
In the run up to the wedding we put out a plea for jam jars so we could fill them up with our favourite sweets. We pulled labels off and cleaned the jars out before decorating them with some ribbon and a flower and filling them with Love Heart sweets, Lolly Pops, Skittles and Jelly Toads (Haribo frog sweets) they went down a treat and it was nice for me to munch on them at the end of the night for a bit of a boost!
We bought our wicker basket and love heart candle holder centre pieces from Dobbies, it took us a while to get them all, as they didn’t have the right number of centre pieces as we had tables, but we got there in the end. They are gorgeous pieces and we have them up in our house now.
