Dobbies: Christmas Preview Charity Night

Dobbies Garden Centre Christmas Preview Charity Night. A night to get into the Christmas spirit and enjoy the best of Dobbies!

Dobbies Garden Centre had their Christmas Preview Charity Nights in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust across the country this week. Tickets were £1 and proceeds from tickets went to the charity.

Teenage Cancer Trust create world class cancer services for young people in the UK, providing life-changing care and support so young people don’t have to face cancer alone. Around seven young people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. They need expert treatment and support from the moment they hear the word ‘cancer.’ TCT are the only charity dedicated to making this happen. As you can see they are a cause worth supporting.

Dobbies is one of our favourite places to go when we want to get out for a few hours. They do some amazing sandwiches and cakes and we are Dobbies Reward card holders so we get two free tea or coffees a month with our card, which is a nice bonus!

Although Dobbies is a garden centre I’m not sure I’ve ever bought anything for the garden from there. I like to have a mooch around the home things and Alfie loves going to see the Fish and the rabbits! My favourite time to visit Dobbies is at Christmas though. You don’t even have to walk in the door and you can smell Christmas. It’s such a heartwarming smell!

The Christmas stuff is right by the door and entices you straight away, great marketing plan Dobbies! You are then like a kid at Christmas, appropriate hey?!, and you can see all of the Christmas Trees and decorations.

I was thrilled when I saw that they had a Christmas preview night. It was a miracle that we were able to attend. It was a very popular night and it was the busiest I’ve ever seen it. However, we welcomed the Mince Pie, Mulled Wine and Orange Juice for Alfie.

The lights and the decorations were overwhelming as soon as you walked in. They had Christmas candles and candle holders, with so many different Christmas smells. Tree decorations for children and those just married were available to buy. Yes we bought the ‘Our first Christmas as Mr and Mrs’ sign. In addition to that they had every colour of light and tree decoration you could think of. Plus there were Father Christmas and ‘Santa stop here’ signs galore.

Presents

Alfie was treated to a Fox bowl, plate and cup that was Christmas related. It’s going to be perfect for his Christmas dinner.

I was a very good wife, if I do say so myself, as I bought my husband a Jelly Bean Advent Calendar. You get a small bag of Jelly Beans every day, with each being a different flavour. Dan loves Jelly Beans and Advent Calendars so I knew this would be a win-win for me!Some great offers were to be had on the night. With the big one being £10 off if you spent £50. Cakes and other goodies were on sale with the proceeds going to TCT and the Dobbies staff were doing demonstrations on making Christmas hampers. The restaurant was really busy selling sandwiches, meals and cakes. But it also had it’s Christmas menu on show of what was to come.

Dobbies has a dedicated area for Afternoon Tea. Over the Christmas period they will do Christmas Afternoon Teas and breakfast with Santa for the kids! Yes I know I’m too old for that… But I can’t wait for my birthday as Christmas Afternoon Tea is a must do.

I can’t wait to go back to Dobbies to get some Christmas Decorations for our new house. I’ll also stock up on their mulled wine and enjoy a Christmassy Afternoon Tea!
