In the holidays Eli turned six months old! This is his six month update.
Weight
At five months Eli weighed 18lb 3oz. Now, at six months old, he weighs 19lb 12oz! He’s now edging much closer to the 91st centile.
You can really notice where he is piling on the pounds now… It’s all going to his thighs. They are so squishy!
Sizes
We are pretty much out of the 6-9 month clothes now and mostly in 9-12 months. However, some of it still buries him!
Day and Night Time
Sleep hasn’t got much better in all honesty. We still only get about two hours at a time. It’s becoming the norm now unfortunately.
Naps are hit and miss too. He much prefers sleeping outside or in the sling, but that doesn’t help me!
I was hoping that he’d start weaning and sleep would get better, so we’ll see how that goes. Although I won’t hold my breathe!
Teeth
You can see the outline of the front two teeth on his gums now, so they really can’t be too far away.
Come on teeth!
Play Time
Now he’s six months old he’s showing much more interest in his toys. The Jumperoo is a huge favourite. Eli has always loved being on his feet and bouncing being held. We also got Alfie’s sit in toy car out this week for him to play with. It’s more for when they can sit up but as he’s starting to learn how to, it’ll be a favourite of his I’m sure. Alfie still likes to play with it and he’s nearly 4!
Weaning
I can’t believe we are at the stage of weaning already. We tried to hold out until six months old to wean Eli but we started a week or so early. Eli was sat in his high chair to get him used to it and screamed the house down as he could see we had food and he wanted it. So we gave him his first try of cucumber and he loved it. A baton size was perfect for him to hold, the outside was cold and hard – perfect for his gums – and the inside was soft enough for his to suck it all.
So that started his weaning journey. I’m not sure I am ready for the mess, or the extra mouth to feed, but he is more than ready. We are doing Baby Led Weaning and I’ll do some separate posts on how we do it and what we use if you are interested!
Milestones and ‘Firsts’
The first few months are always full of milestones. Eli has had lots of firsts:
- Rolling backwards and forwards
- Trying to sit up
- Starting his weaning journey and having his first foods
- First lot of antibiotics!
- First time being babysat by Nanny and Pops!
Mummy Fox loves
I’m loving seeing Eli learn what food is and what he does and doesn’t like. I also loved the day that he turned six months old. When Alfie turned six months we took him to the Sea Life Centre and out for lunch, so we did exactly the same with Eli!
If you haven’t seen Eli’s five month update you can have a look at that here.
